This is the Island View School in Sevier County, Tennessee. The school was named for the view of Buckingham Island in the French Broad River which can be seen across the road from the school. ..The original school was built in the late 1890s. In the fall of 1917 a tornado destroyed the school and a new one had to be built. In December 1918, A.J. King supplied materials for a new school for $558.92. In 1919, new desks were purchased for $121.40 and new maps and charts were bought for $24.47. ..There was no electricity, running water or indoor bathrooms.
