Face of Grandfather
The first settlers believed they saw the face of an old man in the cliffs and outcrops of the highest mountain in the Blue Ridge chain - later named Grandfather Mountain. This profile of Grandfather can be seen after climbing 2000 feet in 2 ½ miles on the Profile Trail.
