The Three Faces of Pippi - Serene
Pippi’s mother is a Swiss Angora and her father is a Turkish milk goat. I love the expression of serenity on her face as she enjoys the late summer evening after a day in the Highlands.
Pippi is one of a herd of Angora goats on the Highlands near the Appalachian Trail which runs along the Tennessee / North Carolina border. She is a 2014 addition to The Goats of Roan series.
The goats spend the summer on the mountain balds at 5700-5800’ in elevation as part of the Baa-tany Goat project. The 10-year project began in 2008 in an attempt to restore the Grassy and Alder Balds using goats as an experimental management tool.
